Gallagher
The goal
Gallagher is a global insurance brokerage and risk-management firm, with a web presence to match: regional sites that grew up separately and did not agree with each other. The goal was one global platform, and more digital applications through it.
The challenge
Big institutions accumulate websites slowly, regionally and without a plan. Each region had its own site, rules and reasons. Unifying them is not a design problem, it is a strategy and politics problem: making one system that many teams will adopt.
My role
Product analyst and strategist. I worked on the design and build of the multi-domain global site, and led six executive workshops on alignment and rollout strategy.
How I approached it
Start with the truth on the ground. Before proposing one platform, you have to understand why there were many. The strategy respected each region's reasons while pulling everything toward one coherent whole, and the executive workshops did the political work a sitemap cannot.
Unification only works if the local teams feel served, not steamrolled.
The result
One global site across many domains, and a 7% increase in digital applications.
